The Playboy empire hit an uncharacteristic bump in the road with its publication of this short-lived magazine devoted to the entertainment world. During its brief stay it managed to produce a cover that had show-biz luminaries like Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable (in a posthumous tribute to "Hollywood's Kings") take a modest position "below the fold," along with TV music man Mitch Miller, all in deference to the forthcoming release of the Hollywood masterpiece. The contents of the magazine include a fall TV preview ("Ben Casey," Dick Van Dyke), profiles of the kooky young comedienne Carol Burnett and the "venerable and venerated" Pablo Casals, and an except from Patrick Dennis' forthcoming send-up "Little Me." Occupying the place of honor is an excellent preview of West Side Story, anticipated with all the enthusiasm and gusto that typified the Playboy editorial voice. The article is supplemented by photography by none other than Richard Avedon.
